Robin Mallinson, Former Academy Lead at Southampton FC and Brentford FC
Jakob Frilund was our Head of Goalkeeping at Barnes Eagles Football Club from August 2020 to July 2021. We were delighted with his endeavour during his period at the club. His sessions had a high quality and the level of detail matched the player levels. Over short time period we saw a clear and viable improvement in our goalkeepers. Jakobs sessions were deep dives into a variety of game elements. Showing a great knowledge of the game and always backed by data. From a personal development standpoint, Jacob wants to improve in each session, and he is excellent at spotting even the smallest area for improvement. In that sense, he can help every goalkeeper to take the next step in their respective development. Jakob has always got time for a chat about different aspects of the game or about a specific match situation the goalkeepers need some advice about. His attitude was exemplary, plus we found him to be a trustworthy and reliable individual. His communication skills both written and electronic were excellent as well. To whom it may concern, Jakob Frilund was the Head of Goalkeeping at Barnes Eagles Football Club from August 2020 until July 2021. During Jacobs time with us he had a huge impact on player development and was an excellent coach to our young goalkeepers. His coaching delivery and knowledge was to an exceptional standard. Jakob has a fantastic attention to detail, he is meticulous in his planning, preparation and has high expectations of the players under his guidance. This attention to detail helped our goalkeepers improve rapidly. Despite being a grassroots football club, Jacob was able to differentiate and appropriately challenge all our players, regardless of ability. In Jacobs short spell with us, he build fantastic relationships with fellow coaches, parents and importantly the players. As a well liked character at the club he will be missed by all. Jacob was a true professional, displaying excellent communication, punctuality, work ethic and earned the respect of all.
